Manage a Colony
If you feed cats or have cats in your neighborhood, the only humane, effective method of preventing more kittens and keeping the cats healthy, is through a Comprehensive Trap Neuter Return Program.
Cats are humanely trapped, taken to a veterinary clinic, where they are spayed or neutered and vaccinated against rabies & distemper. After a short recovery period, they are released to their home territory. No more kittens, spraying, howling and fighting. Cats are healthier, happier, and the colony doesn’t grow. Once cats go through our TNR system, they and the people that care for them are registered in accordance with Cook County, IL Managed Care of Feral Cats Ordinance. CatVando is one of 6 Sponsoring Agencies in the county. If in compliance with Caregiver Responsibilities in the Ordinance, feeding the cats is legal. The CC Ordinance overrides local Ordinance.
